HAME
This site was borne out of a love of all things musical, trivial and Scottish. Let's face it, there have been many great bands/artist who have come out of Scotland, with a good many going on to grace the world stage.
Following the national/international success of our Singles and Album Polls, the site is now a Resource Centre for all things musically Scottish. If your band isn't mentioned on hasn't got a link then by all means let us know. That's what we're here for. Plans are a foot for another poll so keep your eyes and ears open.
So, come in, have a look around and tell us where we're going wrong (or right) as we move to Jocknroll 3.0. I'll get the kettle on.
Anyone for deep-fried shortbread?

SITE NEWS
GO TO POP POURRI FOR NEWS
Today
Whilst there isn't much happening as regards the site itself (although Dave and The Cat are working on a couple of projects) there will be regular snippets of news, reviews and booze and these can be found on the Pop Pourri page. The Cat will also continue to update any links so if your band isn't featured let us know and we'll add you - we're good that way. The Cat will also give the site a spring clean and move some of the furniture around. That carpet will need to go for a start. Deep shag in the living room, anyone?
WHAT A DAY!!
Wednesday 24 October 2007
Unless you were on the planet Mars or Ellen MacArthur sailing round the world (get a job!), you couldn't have failed to miss the Jock 'n' Roll website all over yesterday's papers. The Album poll, especially the Worst Albums, featured in...(deep breath)...The Daily Mail, The Sun, The Daily Record, The Times, The Press and Journal, The Metro and The Scotsman (exhale). (By all means, let us know if you see us being mentioned anywhere else and, if possible, sent us the cutting. Please.)
We were both surprised and delighted but it didn't end there, no it didn't. No sooner had The Cat finished reading the Metro piece than Radio Scotland were on the phone. Can I do an interview? Yes. Can we send you a car? Yes. You have to give it back. Oh!
After a wee chat about the site and the polls on the programme Newsdrive it was all over. It went out live but if you really want to hear it, it should be available on Listen Again from today, for a week.
It didn't stop there, oh no it didn't, I was enjoying a small libation and a Tunnock's Tea Cake with the good lady wife Mrs Cat when BBC Birmingham phoned and asked if I'd like to do an interview about the website. They asked so nicely it was difficult to refuse, although I did insist on a Scotch Egg and a year's supply of Highland Toffee by way of remuneration. I don't come cheap.
They wanted to record it before the show and then air it later that night but time was tight so we've rescheduled for tomorrow. The show is Danny Kelly's (not the fat one) on WM on BBC Birmingham and is available on 95.6 FM on your digital radio (apologies for anyone who only has council radio). His show is on from 2200 until 0100, which is way past most jocknrollers' bedtime but it should also be available on Listen Again for seven days.
Memo to self: Get an agent!
There's no word from Texas fans as to whether a contract has been taken out on our lives but it's coming, I'm sure of that. The Cat will be at the BBC in Glasgow today but will be heavily disguised.
WE'RE TAKING A BREAK
Wednesday 3 October 2007
Dave and The Cat are taking a break from the Jock'n' Roll website to concentrate on all things family-related. We'll pop by occasionally to clear the milk bottles from the door, cut the lawn and check the mail. We'll also update the odd link or artist.
You can still e-mail us at the usual address with any news, scandal, gossip or horse racing tips from the world of jocknroll.
Haste ye back.
THE ARTISTS PAGES
Tuesday 21 August 2007
The Artists pages now have links to websites, MySpace pages and other information sources for as many bands as we can find sites for. If we don't have a link for your band or if your band isn't listed on the album page then by all means let us know. We want to publicise every Scottish artist, irrespective of what type music you play. Inuit throat music? Sure. One-man band? Why not?
UPWARDS AND ONWARDS
Wednesday 4 July 2007
Despite the success of the Great Jock 'n' Roll Singles Poll, 2007 hasn't really been a good year for Dave and The Cat at Jock 'n' Roll HQ.
The Cat's PC shoved off this mortal coil and then took an age to get a replacement. He then spent so much time on the phone to BT's Indian Sub-Continent Call Centres trying to get the Broadband working that he considered adding them as Friends and Family.
Throw in family and work commitments and our attempts to get the Album Poll going have been as lucky as a one-leaf clover.
Recent personal issues have now made it impossible to continue the Album Poll and as a result the Album Poll is now finished. There may be one last updated Album Chart when we add in all the votes gathered after our appearance on Miles Mendoza's Website of the Day feature on Radio 2 but that may be a while off.
However, that's not the end of things. The site will now revert to a Scottish Music Resource, with the Artists and Links pages uniting and the Trivia page will be revamped and we're looking at adding a News page too.
Thanks to everyone who has contributed to the site thus far and we look forward to hearing from you all again as the site goes through its period of metamorphosis. Ta-ra for a bit.
NEW CHART
Wednesday 20 June 2007
Due to a sudden influx of votes (thanks Miles) and imminent trips away for both Dave the Statsmeister and I (he's going up north and I'm going darn saff) the next chart won't be revealed until Monday or Tuesday of next week.
Don't think we're off on jollies though because Dave's working and I'm off to a place whose weather forecast for the next four days reads: Thursday - Light Rain, Friday - Heavy Rain, Saturday - Thundery Rain and Sunday - Meteor Showers. Okay I made the "Light Rain" one up but I won't be slapping on the Factor 15 that's for sure. (STOP PRESS: New Chart On Site)
RADIO 2'S WEBSITE OF THE DAY
Tuesday 19 June 2007
Many thanks to Miles Medonza who made Jock 'n' Roll.co.uk the Website of the day (for the second time) on his regular feature on Steve Wright's Radio 2 Afternoon Show. Details of how to Listen Again to the show are available on the Pop Pourri entry for today. If we get selected again for the Website of the Day we get to keep Miles.
SECURITY NOW STABLE
Thursday 26 April 2007
In view of the recent fatwa issued by Horse fans high on Malibu, we have reluctantly taken the decision to employ the services of a security person, who is situated at the bottom of the Hame page. A spokesperson for Jock 'n' Roll, Jim Khana, said, "It was neigh good. It was becoming a knight mare. We didn't want them taking us for a ride." When asked to comment Horse refused and was given three faults.
JOCK 'N' ROLL IN THE NEWS?
Sunday 22 April 2007
If you see the Jock 'n' Roll website featured in any newspaper or magazine we'd really appreciate it if (a) you could tell us as soon as possible where you saw it and (b) if possible, send us a copy. E-mail us here and we'll give you an address to send it to.
If any media organisations wish to speak to us you can e-mail us and Dave or The Cat will get in touch with you.
We're still after a copy of the magazine PRODUCT, which featured us. If anyone has a spare copy or knows where we can get one we will very grateful and will name our first born after you. Oops, better make that second born!
POP POURRI BLOG
Saturday 21 April 2007
For more site news and inane ramblings, have a wee read of our Pop Pourri Blog. Sometimes we even make ourselves laugh.
The Polls
The results for our Singles and Albums Polls can be found on their respective pages.
Your Band/Group/Combo
Several people have been in touch to let us know of Scottish bands that they were in, who went on to release that cherished piece of 7" vinyl* (*other formats are available). We're happy to add any artist we have missed to our Artist pages.
Feel free to let us know about your band (and their website/MySpace etc) and we'll gladly pull up a chair and listen to your sobs of "we could've been the next Jesse Garon and the Desperadoes" before adding your name to the Artists pages. Shoulder to cry on is optional.
